Many people that suffer from teeth that are crooked and discolored now have conservative options available. Certainly “tooth whitening” is a good alternative, but it does not address the shape and position of their teeth. Porcelain veneers are the result of a unique method of solving this dilemma. People come to us requesting a veneer consultation because of their desire to change. They want their teeth to look good on the front “veneer” side and keep the back “enamel” side unchanged. Unlike crowns, which cover the entire sides of teeth, porcelain veneers allow the person to enjoy and appreciate the normal temperature of foods and liquids through the partial coverage of the teeth.

Florida Atlantic University, located in Boca Raton, has given students the opportunity to prepare for dental school. For many years, I have taken part in the FAU Pre-Dental Mentorship Program (as an FAU Alumni) by inviting students into my practice. Many of these students have successfully gone on to become dentists. This year I have been granted the priveledge to expand the program on the FAU campus. Through the use my donation of a dental-patient chair and doctor stool, I hope to inspire many students by helping them gain the necessary knowledge and building their confidence.

“Minor Tooth Movement” falls under the category Orthodontics. Many dental offices will offer this procedure as an alternative to full braces. Methods of treatment in our office include the new “Smart Moves” clear retainers which avoid having metal. Usually our patients wear the clear retainers over a period of 8-12 weeks depending on the amount of movement desired.
